Brenda Faye (Dewar) Purvis, 2019

Brenda Faye (Dewar) Purvis, 72, of Avon and formerly Heritage Lake, was called to Heaven at 3:04 p.m., on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, while under hospice care in Miller’s Merry Manor in Mooresville. The youngest of seven children born on August 23, 1947, in Indianapolis, to the late Albert and Julia (Lucas) Dewar. Raised with Christian morals, Brenda attended Plainfield High School and grew up on a small farm in Friendswood. She married young in life and worked at Link-belt for many years. She always carried a job of some sort, and later, after settling in a home at the Heritage Lake in Coatesville, she worked there at the clubhouse. A wonderful cook, excellent baker and talented floral designer who always thrived on black coffee and always stopped at yard sales. Bren arranged flowers for many weddings and designed various beautiful creations. Far from a saint and innocent until proven guilty, she marched to the beat of her own drum. Constantly scheming to play a trick on someone or just to make a joke, her intentions were pure. Never losing her inner child, and always telling on herself for silly things she had done, she lived to laugh and loved to reminisce and share stories of the past. Most of all, Brenda selflessly gave to anyone and everyone. Along with her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her siblings, Bob, Al, Herman, David Dewar, Hazel (Dewar) Ellis; and grandchild, Morgan Ashley Green. Brenda is survived by her sons, Gary Dean Light (Wife, Shawntel) of Monrovia and Robert “Bob” Green of Indianapolis; sister, Doris Sampson (husband, Jim) of Kentucky; sister in law, Marianne Dewar of Texas; grandchildren, Savannah Light of Monrovia, Desirae Watson (husband Stuart) of Monrovia; and great granddaughter, Olivia June Watson; along with several adored nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation from noon to 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at Light Memorial and Funeral Chapel in Monrovia. A Celebration of Life Service will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m. and Pastor Keenan Steinway will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville.
