Nettie farmed with Floyd until retiring in the 1960s. She was a cook at Blair Hospital and employed for 23 years at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home as a nurses aid. With her mother she started the Women's Relief Corp, a group of women who were affiliated in with the military in the Blair area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husbands Rudolph Ropkin and Floyd Nottleman. She was survived by her children (Rudolph) Ronnie Ropkin, Bonnie Stacy and Mary Ann Knutson, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
