Rev. Hollis J. Howell, age 83, of Lucedale died Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Providence Hospital of Mobile, AL. Rev. Howell was born February 25, 1936 in Lucedale, MS. He is the son of the late Hillard Hubert Howell and the late Mary Kate (Keel) Howell. He married Mary Jo Eiland on February 11, 1956 at Lucedale, MS. Rev. Howell was a retired minister after 38 years of service with the United Methodist Church. He was a member of Refuge United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Jo (Eiland) Howell , two daughters: Sheila (Scott) McFarland and Vickie (Joe) Owen, and one son: DeWayne Howell; grandchild, Jason Howell; grandchild, Jonathan Owen; grandchild, Caycee Speed; grandchild, Chelcee Varnado; grandchild, Kara Gibson; 10 great grandchildren: three sisters: Laverne Scott, Lanelle Kirkpatrick and Shirley (John) Roberts, and three brothers: Thurman (Edna) Howell, Lester (Ann) Howell and Glenn (Nell) Howell
Predeceased by his grandchild, Lance Owen, and sister, Myrtle Clements
The funeral will be held 12:00 pm on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main St., Lucedale, MS with Rev. Harrell Moore officiating. Burial will be in Refuge Methodist Church Cemetery.
