Services for Ellen "Bea" Beatrice Black, 85, Tonganoxie, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tonganoxie Christian Church. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Black died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at her home.

She was born Sept. 4, 1920, in Tonganoxie, the daughter of John Benjamin and Mary Voyles Vollintine. She graduated from Tonganoxie High School in 1938 and attended Lawrence Business and Burroughs School in Kansas City, Mo.

She was a member of Tonganoxie Christian Church, and was their first secretary.

She worked for Federal Crop Insurance, Southwestern Bell and Hercules Power. She retired from Leavenworth Jefferson Electric Corp.

She married Benjamin F. Bateson on Dec. 20, 1941, in Kansas City, Mo. He died Dec. 10, 1970. She married William A. Black on April 2, 1983, in Tonganoxie. He died Dec. 3, 2005.

Survivors include two sons, John Bateson, Tonganoxie, and Steve Bateson, Basehor; two daughters, Delores Edmonds, Tonganoxie, and Carolyn Rose, Council Grove; two stepsons, John E. Black, Aranac, Mich., and Donald Black, McLouth; a stepdaughter, Pamela Allen, Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Marshall Smith Vollintine; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
