At Home Today

John Wilson Jolley, one of Obion County's most prominent farmers for a great number of years, passed way at 12:05 this morning at his home a few miles South of town.

Mr. Jolley had been seriously ill for three weeks and even though it has been known for the past several days that his recovery was impossible, his death came as a great shock to the entire community in which he lived. He was seventy-four years of age and lived practically his entire life at the Jolley home place where he died. His wife,

Mrs. Sarah Agnes Pate Jolley, preceded him in death a great number of years.

Mr. Jolley's character was not restricted to stern business methods without that human touch which added so much to his successful career. He was kind to all, had a keen sense of humor, and was credited with many acts of charity. His many friends recall that Mr. Jolley's ability for making and holding friendships was unusual. His sincerity and simplicity in his beliefs and obvious understanding were characteristics which made him a popular and beloved citizen. His going leaves a vacancy which can never be filled and the many friends of the family join them in their bereavement.

He was the father of three surviving children who are all well known and liked here. They are William L. Jolley of Fulton, with whom he made his home many years; Royce W. Jolley, of Los Angeles, California, who has been attending his bedside for the past few days, as has his only daughter, Mrs. S. N. Jonakin of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Other survivors are: one brother, E. B. Jolley, of Martin Tennessee; and the following grandchildren – William L. Jr., Fred, Sarah Jane, and Virginia Lee Jolley, all children of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Jolley; Seisel N. Jr., Kenneth W., Patricia, and Robert E. Jonakin, children of Mr. and Mrs. S. N. Jonakin. A brother, Bob Jolley, preceded him in death, having passed away the past February.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at ten o'clock at his residence, conducted by the Rev. James E. Parr, Jr., of South Fulton, and Rev. W. C. Waters of Martin, Tennessee.

Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery here, in charge of Winstead-Jones Funeral Home of Martin, Tennessee.

Pall bearers are: Abe, Everett and Tom Jolley, all of Fulton, who are nephews of the deceased: L. A. Eliott and Lon Turner of Martin, and John Baucom of Fulton
