Galva Weekly News, February 12, 1914:
Death of John Soderquist.
John Soderquist was born in Bishop Hill November 21, 1850 and died at his
home February 3, 1914 at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 13 days. His father
and mother were among the early colonists and it was in the environment
of the Bishop Hill colony that he spent his boyhood, recieving such schooling
as was afforded. He engaged in agricultural pursuits and about the year
1870 purchased his father's farm, later moving out to it where he resided ever
since. August 22, 1871 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Biomberg, whose
parents were also of the early settlers.

To this union were born three sons and four daughters, of whom one girl, Laura Elmira, died in infancy, and one son, John Wallace, nearly two years ago. His wife and the following children survive him: Leslie of Galesburg, Milton, Minnie Laura wife of Victor Tillman, and Myrtle.
