Nevia Grace Meisch entered into eternal rest on September 12, 2019, in Waco, Texas. She was born on October 4, 1926, in Stranger, Texas, to William Luther and Vera McCoy Arney. She graduated from Lott High School in 1944, and attended Lon Morris College in Jacksonville. She married Robert Edward “Bob” Meisch, Sr. in Marlin, Texas, on July 8, 1951.

Nevia and Bob and their children lived in several communities in central and west Texas during Bob’s long career as a band director before returning to Falls County and settling in Marlin in 1967. Nevia worked as a teacher’s aide for the Marlin Independent School District in the 1970s, and at Chris’s Fabric Shop for several years after retiring from the school district.

Nevia served her community in many capacities. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Marlin for many years; she sang in the choir, served on the Session, and was a member of the Women of the Church. Upon the closure of the Marlin church, she joined the First Presbyterian Church of Lott. She was a member of the Marlin Civic Club and the Temple Bluebonnet Club; she held several offices at the club and district level of the Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs, including a term as president of the Capitol District in the 1980s. In addition, she volunteered with the Falls County Hospital Auxiliary, was a member of the Wednesday Matinee Musical Club, and served on the Palace Theater and Allen House Boards for many years. She loved gardening, sewing, animals (especially cats), music, acting in and assisting with Palace Theater productions, and reading. Most importantly, Nevia was a devoted and supportive wife and mother who loved her family and was always there for them in good times and bad.

Nevia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Frank Arney, James M. Arney, and Roy Arney; and a sister, Juanita Birkelbach.

She is survived by her children, daughter Shearon Alex Bacon and son-in-law Alton “Bud” Bacon of Reno, Nevada, son Robert Edward Meisch, Jr. of Lubbock, Texas, and daughter Lisa Kay Meisch of Liberty, Texas; a sister, Mary Agnes Jaster of Waco, Texas; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat Domino.

Services will be at 10:00 AM, September 16, 2019 at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. David Thomas presiding. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Adams Funeral home. Memorials made be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Lott C/O Gayle Palmore Treasurer 1412 Overlook Ridge Dr. Belton, Texas 76513 or the charity of one’s choice.
