Arlyn was born November 29, 1931 in Westhope, N.D. to Ingwald and Alma Rosendahl. He grew up and attended school in Westhope. Arlyn proudly served in the United States Army from October 22, 1952 through October 21, 1954 where he served in Korea and was stationed on Eniwetok Atoll (Arlyn's Island) in the Marshall Islands in 1953 and 1954. Following his service, Arlyn returned to his hometown of Westhope and reconnected with his love, Judy and they were married on October 7, 1956 and were blessed with 3 children.
In 1963, they built a new home on the farmstead where Arlyn had farmed for many years. Besides farming, he was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent many precious hours with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends doing what he loved most. He was dedicated to spending time with family and teaching his grandchildren how to hunt, fish and work on the farm.
He and Judy celebrated 62 years of marriage before Judy passed away in August, 2018.
Arlyn is survived by his children: Wayne (Kathy) Rosendahl of Souris,N.D., Vickie (Reidar) Clausen of Haysville, Ks. and Randy (Jody) Rosendahl of Bottineau; 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; sister Murilyn Racine of Sun Lakes, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy, his parents and a sister, Lorraine Moum.
