Myrtle Hodges, 81, of Covington passed away at her home September 9, 2019 in Covington due to complications from Alzheimer’s. She was born February 27, 1938 in Floyd County, Texas to Lewis (Buck) and Katie (Darr) Applegate the youngest of 7 children.

At a young age the family moved to Blum where she grew up and attended school. There she met the love of her life, Donald Eugene Hodges. They were married on July 10, 1955 in Blum. They made their home in Blum and raised four children.

Myrtle enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, sewing, fishing, cooking and baking. She had a special interest in Iris and Day Lilies that resulted in flowers hybridized and grown as one of a kind flower. She was a member of the Johnson County Iris and Day Lily Society. She was a member of Woodrow Baptist Church and served as Treasurer and taught youth Sunday School.

Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Maner, Curtis; sisters, Ruby Anding, Lorene Calahan and Janie Day.

Survived by her husband of 64 years, Donald E. Hodges of Covington; children, Deborah Campbell, Ricky Hodges, Laura Hodges, Cindy Segars; grand children, great grand children, great great grand children, sister, Anna Lou Curlee and a host of nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Services will be September 13, 2019 in Cleburne...CPFH
