Elden, 84, was the eldest son of Hector and Annie Regenvetter Nelles born at the family home on the Joe Leary Slough, north of Bayview. His education was in the Edison schools and he was a life-long resident of Skagit County.
On April 22, 1931, Elden was united in marriage with Mary Hall, daughter of another pioneer family, Joesph and Clara Hall, at the Avon Methodist Church.
Raised on Padilla Bay, he had a love and keen interest in fishing, hunting and boating.
