Son of James Hancock and Charity Dailey. A veteran of 4 years service with the 42nd Indiana Volunteers during the Civil War. He married Mary Ellen McCafferty on September 3rd, 1865. D.P.F. died on a train near Denver while returning to Indiana from Pendleton, Oregon. D.P.F. and Mary Ellen had ten children, whose descendants still meet at a Hancock family reunion in June each year at Washington, Indiana.
