He was born Sept. 20, 1900, in Millerstown RD 2, Juniata County, a son of the late William and Amanda Forry Brown. He married the former Iva Hornberger, who survives.
Also surviving are children, Mrs. Palmer (Violet) Pontius, New Bloomfield; Mrs. Emory (Nedra) Pyle, McAlisterville; Mrs. Woodrow (Virginia) Hockenbroch, Liverpool; Mrs. Merrill (Lois) Graybill, Richfield; Harold E. Brown, Rockville, Md; a half-sister, Mrs. Harold (Elizabeth) Long, Shermansdale; a half-brother, Edward M. Brown, Ickesburg; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A daughter, Janet, died in 1940.
He was a farmer who retired in 1964, and moved to Richfield. He worked at Standard Steel, and retired in 1940. He also served as a rural mail carrier. He was a member of Richfield United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class of Sunday School.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Richfield United Methodist Church, with the Rev. W. Dean Kinch officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Mills, Wednesday evening, and at the church from noon Thursday until the time of service.
