He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Naomi Swartz, in 1984.
He served with the United States Army in Europe during World War II. He was a retired carpenter for Shirk Construction Co, Richfield.
He was a member of Richfield United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Bunkertown Men's Chorus for over 20 years.
He is survived by four sons and one daughter; Joel N.Carvell, Richfield RR1; Timothy A.Carvell, Richfield RR1; Laban A.Carvell, HCR 63, Richfield, Micah S.Carvell, Mt Pleasant Mills RR2; and Colleen C.Stimeling, Richfield RR1.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother and two sister; Ray Carvell, Richfield RR1; Dora Phillips, Selinsgrove; and Minnie Carvell, Richfield RR1.

The funeral service was held Wednesday at the George P.Garman Funeral Home, Mt Pleasant Mills, with Rev. Richard M.VonNeida and Rev. Almon D.Baird officiating. Burial was made in the Richfield Union Cemetery.
