He was born at the homestead, Richfield RD, June 16, 1901, the son of the late William C. and Elizabeth Swartz Carvell.
Mr. Carvell was a farmer all his life. As a young man he joined the Richfield EUB Church and was one of its most loyal members until his health began declining. He was a lay leader of the church for 10 years, a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years and served on the church council for 25 years.
He was married to the former Sadie Sheaffer, October 20,1942. She survives along with two sisters, Mrs. Dora Phillips and Miss Minnie Carvell, both of Richfield RD; three brothers John, of Richfield, Ray and Clair, both of Richfield RD. Two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 pm from the Richfield EUB Church, with his pastor, Rev. Stuart F. Bingman, officiating. Interment will follow in the Richfield cemetery.
A viewing will be held Sunday evening from the Garman funeral home, Mt Pleasant Mills. The body will lie in state in the church Monday from 12 noon until the hour of service.
Pallbearers will be John Ferster, Glenn Ferster, Clair Ferster, Kenneth Ferster, Henry Swartz and Gilbert Swartz.
