Delores “Dody” De Vries was born September 17, 1935, to Duane Arnold and Vera Belle (Hedrick) Sampson, on a farm near What Cheer, Iowa.

Dody was a 1953 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. On November 25, 1955 she was united in marriage to Bernie De Vries at the Central Methodist Church in Oskaloosa. Dody worked several jobs, joined several organizations and was active in politics while raising a family. A family of four boys; Steve, Dan, Mike and Jeff. She worked at Central College in the financial office from 1971 to 1984. At this time she went to work at the Marion County Auditors office and was the County Auditor until her retirement in 2000. In retirement Dody remained busy spending time with family, caring for her yard, golfing and dining with friends. Dody was a volunteer for several groups, she was the treasurer for the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 89, volunteered at Trinity Church including TWIST, Tulip Time and Cadets. Other volunteer work included Hospice, Historical Society and League of Women Voters.

She is also survived by her sister, Deloma Shell, of Murray, Iowa.

Dody was preceded in death by her husband Bernie, her parents Duane and Vera Sampson, her sister Betty Lou Sampson, and her brother Dean Sampson.
