Ruth Elaine Robbins, 91, Liberty, died June 28, 2007. Ruth was born March 4, 1916 in Bethany, the daughter of August Pearl and Willa Grace (Ross) Nickerson.
Ruth graduated from Martinsville High School in 1934 and later received her degree in education from Maryville Teachers' College.
She married J. Rex Robbins on October 27, 1945.
In 1969, Ruth received her master's degree in guidance counseling from the University of Missouri - Kansas City and began teaching school in rural Harrison and Worth Counties before moving to the Liberty School District where she taught science and math, and later worked as a guidance counselor until her retirement in 1985.
Ruth and Rex lived in Excelsior Springs for 44 years, moving to Liberty in 1995.
They were members of the Excelsior Springs United Methodist Church prior to joining Liberty United Methodist in 1995.
Her parents, three sisters, one brother and a great-granddaughter preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, J. Rex Robbins, of the home; three daughters, Elaine Hollingsworth of Kansas City, MO; Elizabeth and Everett Easley of Liberty, MO; and Elise and Kevin Fisher of Liberty, MO; four grandsons; four granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Maxine and Robert Harsh of Raytown, MO; and Doris Behrens of Topeka, KS, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were July 2 at Liberty United Methodist Church, with burial in Glenridge Cemetery.
