Mr. Patton was born September 4, 1919, in Winchester, VA, the son of George W. and Ethel McIlwee Patton. He served in the U. S. Army 8th Air Force, 4th Fighter Group, 335th Squadron during World War II.
He was active in various ministry positions serving several churches in Florida and North Carolina. He was a member of the Lions Club and American Legion. He was a former director of the Apple Blossom Grand Feature Parade.
He married Ruth Lancaster on May 28, 1943, in Winchester.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Cynthia Patton Hodge of Newport News; two sons, Kenneth C. Patton Jr. of Smith Mountain Lake and Jeffery R. Patton of Winchester; a brother, Harold Patton of Winchester; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Four sisters, Hilda Morris, Madeline Hershberger, Evelyn Patton, and Gretna Carlisle; and two brothers, Lynwood Patton and Raymond Patton, are deceased.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, in "The Commons" at Westminster Canterbury, with the Rev. Elizabeth Lewis officiating. Military honors will be accorded by Winchester VFW Post 2123.
The family will receive friends following the service.
