James W. Lancaster, 77, of Cameron died June 1 at Luther Midelfort Northland hospital in Barron. Graveside services were Friday morning, June 15, at Greenfield Cemetery in Kellogg, Minnesota, with military honors by Wabasha VFW and American Legion Posts.

Mr. Lancaster was born Aug. 19, 1929 to Bernise and Mildred (Bequette) Lancaster at Tucumcari, N.M. After high school, he entered the Air Force and retired as a senior master sergeant after 22 years of service. Mr. Lancaster later owned and operated Dumfries Farm Supply in Dumfries, Minn. On Sept. 8, 1984 he married Neoma St. Jacques at Kellogg. Mr. Lancaster served on the Wabasha City Council for 8 years, was a past commander of the Wabasha VFW Post 4086 of Wabasha, Minn., and also served as post quartermaster for several years. He was also a past commander of the Kellogg American Legion Post 546 of Kellogg and a current member of the Rice Lake American Legion Post 87. The Lancasters spent the past 13 summers in Cameron and spent the past two winters in Cameron and Donna, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Neoma of Cameron; a son, Keith of Baytown, Texas; a daughter, Denise Aitken of Wabasha; two stepsons, Keith Schlesser of Oronoco, Minn., and Kenneth Schlesser of Rochester, Minn.; a stepdaughter, Christine St. Jacques of Elgin, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clarence Cummings of Eastland, Texas; and five sisters, Lola Murphy of Cibilo, Texas, Ione Underwood and Mary Lockhardt, both of Abilene, Texas, Virgie George of Santa Fe, N.M., and Ann Berg of Roswell, N.M.-06/06/07.
