Services for Odis R. Darden, Sr., age 88 of Columbia will be held at 3:00PM, Friday, February 16, 2007 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. James Brown, and Bruce McGhee officiating. Billy Cy Frazier will deliver the euology. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson.

Mr. Darden was born in Caldwell Parish on August 11, 1918 to the union of Leslie Lamar and Lennie Stotts Darden and died Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at the Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe. He was a retired merchant, having owned Darden Dry Goods for over 30 years. He served two terms as a Caldwell Parish Police Juror and was a World War II veteran having served in the Marines. In his younger years, he was a LA State Trooper serving in Orleans Parish. He was also a member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge #164. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife: Lorena Tarver Darden.

Survivors include his daughter: Barbara Jean Roberts, his son and daughter-in-law: Butch and Nancy Darden, his grandchildren: Mark Roberts, Randy Roberts, Jeff Roberts, Deno Darden, Johnny Darden, Butch Darden, III, Tammy May and Lori Crockett, seventeen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, his brother: Archie Darden and his wife: Willie Dean and his sister: Bonnie Darden Tarver all of Columbia.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Mark Roberts, Jeff Roberts, Randy Roberts, Deno Darden, Johnny Darden and Butch Darden, III. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilbur McGrew, Billy Cy Frazier and Danny White.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00PM until 8:00PM and Friday from 9:00AM until time of services at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy 165, Columbia.
