My father was born near Parkston SD, son of Herman Falk and Augusta Mews Falk. His mother died when he was 4 years old. His father remarried a year later, and the family moved to Ferintosh, Alberta, Canada when he was 10.
Louis and Lilly May Hamilton had 8 children, Dorothy Alice Falk, Doris Annie Falk Shannon, Violet Minnie Falk Mackintosh, Mildred Louise Falk Morgan, Herman William Falk, George Lester Falk and Agnes Lucille Falk Maier.

His schooling was very limited, because he stayed home to look after his 10 step siblings, so all he really learned was how to work. This made for a very tough situation when in his 70s he was no longer able to work. He had never learned to play in any manner, so it was not a pleasant retirement for him.
