Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch

Scott Bain Phillips, Sr, 82, lifelong resident of Olive Branch, MS, passed away August 20, 2019. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church (9155 Highland St, Olive Branch, MS) with a funeral service immediately following at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at Memorial Park Southwoods (5485 Hacks Cross Rd, Memphis, TN). Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Phillips was born on September 6, 1936, in Olive Branch, MS. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Olive Branch and past member of the Lions Club of Olive Branch. Mr. Phillips was a member of the Mississippi Municipal League. He was very involved in his hometown. He owned and operated the IGA Grocery in Olive Branch for many years and served as City Alderman for two terms. He was a devoted father to his only son, Mayor Scott Phillips, beloved grandfather and uncle to his two granddaughters and niece. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Scotty leaves behind his son, Scott (Stacy) Phillips, Jr. of Olive Branch, MS; granddaughters, Madison and Mabree Phillips of Olive Branch, and niece, Trina Redmon of Carmel, CA.

Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Travis Phillips; his parents, Arthur and Myrtle Phillips and brother, Danny Phillips.

In lieu of traditional gifts, memorials can be made in honor of Scott Bain "Scotty" Phillips, Sr. to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.

In honor of Scotty Phillips' service to our great city, the flag of the City of Olive Branch will be flown at Coleman Funeral Home.
