Harold O. "Hal" Arlint, age 85, Grove, Okla., formerly of Joplin, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at a nursing center in Grove, after a lengthy illness. Hal was born June 2, 1925, in Kansas City, Mo., son of the late Perry Arlint and Grase Stag Arlint. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Asian Theatre and during the Korean War, he was a pilot and a traffic controller. He continued in the Navy for over 21 years before retiring as a chief petty officer. He then moved to Joplin in 1967, and began his career with the Joplin Municipal Airport as the manager. He retired in 1986, after 19 years of service. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge of Grove. Hal enjoyed motorcycles and played golf daily following his retirement.
In addition to his parents, Hal was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret "Maggie" Arlint who died March 16, 2009.

Survivors include his daughters, Melody L. Gideon and husband, Mike, of Joplin, and Toni Marie Abrams, of Columbus, Kan.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary with private family services to be held at a later date. No formal services are planned as per the requests of Hal and Maggie Arlint. The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Veteran's Administration.
