PIONEER PASSES AWAY - Reuben W. Barber
Reuben Wilmot [Wilmont] Barber died Friday evening at the home of his sister, Mrs. S. A. Teal, after an illness of several days.

Mr. Barber was born at Briar Hill, New York in 1851. He came to Douglas County when seven years of age and with the exception of nineteen years, spent in California, Mr. Barber's life was spent in or near Waterloo. He was one of the pioneers of Douglas County and was for several years in business in Waterloo with his brother-in-law, Mr. Purchase, and was well known to the earlier settlers.

He was married to Miss Emma Barley [Bailey], of Elk City, in 1872, who died in 1875. On November 17, 1880, Mr. Barber was united in marriage to Miss Adella Clark of Waterloo.

Since Mr. Barber's return in 1912 he hasn't been seen often outside of his home, but his pleasant greeting will always be remembered, as will also his cheerful smile, uncomplaining disposition and his great love for children. His last Christmas eve was spent in giving pleasure to his grand nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held at the home of Mrs. Teal Sunday afternoon. Rev. Woodworth conducted the services and a quartet furnished the music. The pall bearers were: L. S. Gould, William Burgess, George Todd, Richard Nason, William Mack and Herbert Bell. Interment was at Prospect Hill cemetery.
