Lee Bose Barton was born in Irving in 1885 and was a local farmer until the time of his retirement. He was an active member of the Woodman of the World Lodge for 56 years and was a charter member of the Sowers Lodge organized in Irving.
Mr. Barton served as a trustee on the school board of the old Sowers Community School and the LB Barton school for over 30 years.
The Barton Elementary School was named in his honor due to his great interest in the activities of the school and his love for children. Mr. Barton passed away in 1966.
