CLEARFIELD, Utah—Loretta Helene Davidson Nielson, 83, passed away on August 20, 2019 in Clearfield. She was born on September 21, 1936 in Los Angeles, California to Grant Davidson and Lorraine Schribner.

She grew up in Salina and was a graduate of North Sevier High School. Loretta married Jay Nielson of Gunnison on June 25, 1954. They were sealed in the Manti Temple.

While a youngster she spent a year in a body cast at Primary Children’s Hospital to correct a deformed shoulder. Loretta was a fixture for many years during her employment at Mom’s Cafe in Salina and at the Higham’s Laundromat in Gunnison.

Loretta is survived by her son Jeffrey and by her identical twin sister Lorraine, both of Clearfield. She is preceded in death by her husband Jay, and by her daughter Evelyn Ann Jackson, and by her parents.

Loretta and Jay lived in Gunnison for many years. She moved to Layton to live with her twin sister after her home was contaminated by the Gunnison gasoline spill. Loretta and her sister suffered serious strokes on the same day in 2014 and have been residents of the Rocky Mountain Care Facility in Clearfield since then. Lorraine and Loretta were extremely close and constant companions during their time together at the care center.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road, Layton. Friends may visit family Tuesday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
