He had applied for homestead of 160 acres on June 1, 1903 in Lyons Township. He died a little over a year later in Orton Township, near Nimrod . Cause of death is stated as Typhoid. Due to the seriousness of Typhoid, he was buried the day after he died.
Census of 1900 has him living with his son John in Lyons Township, Wadena County, MN
There is another memorial for him in Wisconsin (mem #100406208) with his name on a headstone with his second wife, whom he left (census states divorced) to come to Minnesota. I believe this is a Cenotaph as there is no record of him being disinterred from the Nimrod Cemetery.
