Longtime Meeker resident Betty Jean Ballard, 83, departed this life Tuesday, June 19, in Shawnee.
She was born Feb. 3, 1924, in Meeker to J.L. and Leedie (Reed) Armstrong.

Betty Jean was married July 25, 1941, in Guthrie to Elmer Otis Ballard.

She was a beautician and the owner of her own beauty shop. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Meeker.

Betty Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son and one sister.

Survivors include her five sons, Alan Ballard and Robert Ballard of Meeker, William Ballard of Shawnee, Calvin Ballard and Tommy Ballard of Modesto, Calif.; two daughters, Karen Small of Oklahoma City and Patsy Peeler of California; one brother James Armstrong of Oklahoma City; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, Meeker.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at New Hope Cemetery, Meeker, with the Rev. Joe Jones officiating.
