Year old Kenneth Root today was
charged with the fatal shooting
of Donald Benson, 22, a neighbor.
Undersheriff Dewey Randall
said Benson and a group of
friends were walking home from
a rural school box supper when
Root approached them. Benson
laughed at him. Root fired,
shouting "Now laugh, Donald,"
mounted his horse and rode
away. A posse trapped the boy
in a rugged canyon the next day.
