Mrs. Regina Pearl Garten, 92, of Stanaford, died Tuesday August 21 at 1:30 p.m. in a Beckley hosital after a short illness.
She is survived by 149 relatives.
Born March 13, 1892, at Pence Springs, she was a daughter of the late Rufus G. and Margaret Persinger Lilly.
Mrs. Garten was a housewife and a member of Piney View Bible Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Garten in 1965; a son, Rodney Garten and three grandchildren, Roy Eugene Garten, Karen Gurack Bonds and Theodore Walton Gill, III.
Survivors include three sons, Robert E. and Ronald Garten, both of Piney View and Randall Garten of Liberty, Mo.; eight daughters, Pauline Miller of Stanaford, Ruby Morris and Virginia Gurack, both of Piney View, Wilda Holliday of Richmond, Va., Mae Jean Hart of Bradley, Mary Alice McCoy of Friendswood, Texas, Dana Joan Hayes of Newport News, Va., and Kitty Sue Gill of Martinez, Ga.; 40 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren.
Services were held Friday August 24 at 1 p.m. at the Piney View Bible Church with the Revs. cecil Smith, Phillip Lilly, Carl Johnson and L. A. Garten officiating. Burial followed in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity.
The body was at the Blue Ridge Funeral Home In Prosperity and at the church one hour prior to service.
Any donations of sympathy should be made to the Piney View bible Church Building Fund.
Pallbearers were Gerald and Dean Garten, Denny Reardon, Harry Roy Miller, Teddy and Tommy Holliday.
