Teofil (Theophil) Lehman or Lehmann was the son of Jacob Lehmann and Barbara Bieszk. He was born in Schönewald, West Prussia (now Szemud) and baptized at Kölln (Kielno) Catholic parish. He married Barbara Specht about 1872. They had six children: Wladislaw, Ottilia Stefanowski (Steffen), Martha, Mary Dopke, Augusta Dopke, and Phyllis (Theophila) Wendt. Wladislaw died as a baby in West Prussia.
