Rolland "Cy" McKellips
Westville -- Rolland "Cy" McKellips, 87, of Westville passed away Monday, March 22, 1999, in La Porte. He was born April 27, 1911, in La Porte, to Rollo D. and Nelly (Bly) McKellips, and has been an area resident all of his life. In 1935 he married Carol Nuss Affleck who survives and lives in Keystone Heights, Florida. In 1959 he married Anna Mae McKellips who preceded him in death on November 29, 1982.
He is survived by his son, Rolland Alan (Gus) McKellips of Melrose, Florida; his daughter, Faith Veltrop Hall of Clovis, New Mexico; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Marianne Gilbert and one sister.
Mr. McKellips was a farmer and owned several businesses in the area. He was a Charter member to the Westville Lions Club and a member of the Westville Masonic Lodge. He was also a former justice of the peace in Westville. He graduated from Westville High School in 1929.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 1999, in the Newhard Funeral Home in Westville, Rev. William C. Babb III will officiate. Burial will be in Door Village Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. until time of services. The Westville Lions Club will hold a memorial service for him at 7 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Westville Lions Club.
