Floyd Francis Keniston, age 96, passed away on October 11th in Hollis with his family by his side. He was born in Bridgton, Maine on August 12, 1922. Floyd was married for 68 wonderful years to Evangeline "Vangie" (Rockwell) Keniston, who predeceased him in 2013. Floyd was a resident of Bryant Pond for 58 years, spending the past nine years under the excellent care of his daughter Kendra and son-in-law Chet in Hollis. Floyd is survived by his four children: daughters Karen Neary of Steep Falls, Kathy Cummings of Bethel, Kendra Ouellette and husband Chet of Hollis, and son Kendall Keniston and wife Suzette of South Paris. He was predeceased by his sons-in-law Robert Neary and Greg Cummings. Floyd enjoyed the time he spent with his seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Floyd graduated from Oakland High School in 1940 and then joined the US Navy, serving six years during World War II,1 being a Pearl Harbor Survivor. Utilizing the GI Bill, Floyd earned an Education Degree from Gorham State Teachers' College and became an Industrial Arts Teacher. For 28 years, Floyd taught at Stonington, Woodstock, and Telstar High Schools, where he retired in 1979. Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, tying his own flies, building his own fly rods, and spending time at his camps in Eustis and Sunday River. He also spent winters skiing with his wife and children for many years. He spent timeless hours of his retirement years enjoying his woodworking shop where he made family Christmas gifts and thousands of other projects. He was very active and devoted to his local Church. Floyd will be honored in a Veterans' graveside service next spring. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 45 Main Street, South Paris.
