He was born July 5, 1931, in Snyder County, a son of the late Erbert L. and Malda E. (Fisher) Arter. On Oct. 21, 1950, he married the former Catherine M. Jablonski who survives.
Ken attended Sunbury High School.
Mr. and Mrs. Arter were the owners and operators of Danville Glass & Locksmith from 1974 until 2019 when the business was sold. Originally working in Northumberland, Mr. Arter then purchased the company in Riverside and eventually opened a second location in Sunbury.
He was a lifetime member of the Good Will Hose Company, Sunbury.
He enjoyed traveling, particularly to Florida and Hawaii.
In addition to his wife of 68 years, Ken is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia A. "Cindy" and Steve Taylor of Northumberland; two granddaughters, Ashley C. Taylor and fiancé Alex McBride of St. Augustine, Fla., and Shana M. and Tyler J. Gross of Riverside; and one great-granddaughter, Ella M. Gross.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Constance L. "Connie" Arter in 2010.
Friends and family may visit from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral, 210 King St., Northumberland, followed by funeral at 10, with Father Tukura Pius Michael O.P., as celebrant.
Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland.
