Preceding him in death were his parents, father-in-law Luther Mercer, brothers Gene, Jack, and Don Frey as well as sister-in-law Janice Frey.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Pat Frey, children Erin Frey of Lexington, KY, Josh (Ashley) Frey of Owensboro, grandson Oliver Frey, step granddaughters Paige Warren, Julia Pickerill, and Greycee Pickerill, siblings Vince (Joan) Frey and Judy (Ronnie) Peach, mother-in-law Myrtle Mercer, sisters-in-law Deloris (Jim) Williams, Debbie (Jim) Ingram, Gertie Frey, Liz Frey, and brother-in-law James Neal (Judy) Mercer as well as 25 nieces and nephews.
His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. John Howard and his loving and compassionate staff for the wonderful individual care and support he received from them as he battled cancer. They would also like to extend thanks to the devoted friends and neighbors who served as a great source of joy to him.
Services will be noon Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Fr. Jerry Riney and Bro. Farrell Isenberg presiding. Visitation will be Friday 3-8PM and Saturday after 9AM. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Owensboro Catholic High School, Brescia University, or Hospice of Western Kentucky.
