Mary Christine Walker, aged 84, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2019. Christine was born November 26, 1934 at home in Caddo Gap, Arkansas and was the youngest child of the late Arthur and Amy (Horn) Tweedle.

Christine grew up on the family farm with sister Donna, two brothers Earl and Gerald, and a large assortment of farm animals and pets.

Following her graduating valedictorian from Caddo Gap School, Christine became a secretary in Little Rock where she met her husband Herbert Walker, who was stationed at Little Rock Air Base. Christine followed him to Germany and they were married in 1957. When Herbert retired from the Air Force they moved to Morganton where she worked in the Salem school cafeteria.

She loved gardening, basket making, and quilting, but most especially tending to her many flower beds, and caring for the herd of stray cats and dogs that wandered up to her door. She loved to read, was an expert in exotic flowers, could grow anything, and canned everything. She made absolutely the best biscuits and her gravy simply will never be matched this side of Heaven.

After retiring from the school cafeteria, Christine continued to serve in her church and volunteered at Grace Hospital, Burke United Christian Ministries, and other areas where she could be of help. She never unlearned the strong work ethic instilled by her parents, never tired of serving, never quit giving, and her dedication to helping others touched untold lives.

Christine Walker was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and husband, and her memory will live on in her relatives, her church family, close friends, and many others.

In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated and placed alongside her husband at a future date.
