Alex was the son of John and Alpha Hitchcock Archer of Hendricks County, Indiana. He was in trouble with the law for much of his life after leaving home around the age of 14. He met his untimely end by drinking wood alcohol with several other convicts while serving a sentence for larceny at Joliet Prison. No grave has been located at the cemetery.
