Harry attended the Millerstown School. He was a life long member of the Millerstown United Methodist Church. Harry was employed most of his life as a carpenter. He was employed by John Kerr Construction, Millerstown, Elston Wickenheiser Construction, Wormleysburg, and Keeley Realty, Inc., Camp Hill.
Harry was a 73 year member of the former Tennis Lodge No. 371, Free & Accepted Masons, Thompsontown, a current member of the Newport Tennis Lodge No. 381 Free & Accepted Masons, and was past leader of the Millerstown Explorer Scouts.
He enjoyed woodworking, camping, hunting, fishing, flying remote control airplanes, and spending time with his family.
Harry is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law: Larry E. and Frieda Stroup of Mt. Airy, MD, David L. and Deidre Stroup of Liverpool, and Richard W. and Wanda Stroup of Palmer, Alaska; grandchildren: Wendy Hawse and husband Jeff, Sheri Bowersox and husband Pernell, John Stroup, Matthew Stroup, Kathryn Brashear Nihart and husband David, Amy Pigg and husband Scotty, and Vicki Stroup; 13 great grandchildren; a sister, R. Patricia Bitting of Cabot, PA; and nieces and nephews.
Harry was preceded in death by a brother, Ray T. Stroup; a sister and two brothers-in-law, Violet M. and M. Luther Turnbaugh, and Mark C. Bitting.
Friends and family are invited to the viewing on Monday, August 12, 2019 from 6:00 .PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a Masonic memorial service by the Newport Tennis Lodge No. 381 Free & Accepted Masons at 8:00 PM at the George P. Garman Funeral Homes, Inc. 606 N. Front Street, Liverpool. An additional viewing will be on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Millerstown United Methodist Church, 23 N. High Street, Millerstown. Officiating will be Rev. Fred Rudy. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Millerstown United Methodist Church or to the Millerstown Fire and Ambulance League, PO Box 34, Millerstown, PA 17062.
