The death of Arthur L. Joslyn, an esteemed resident of Cooperstown and a man well and favorably known about the country, occurred very suddenly as the result of heart trouble at his home on Walnut street at about 11 o'clock, Saturday night. Mr. Joslyn was the son of the Rev. J. M. and Selina (Cornish) Joslyn and was born on Christian Hill March 30, 1856. During the early years of his life he lived on a farm on the Cherry Valley creek and was ten or twelve years engaged in the grocery business at Oneonta. Twenty-one years ago he moved to Cooperstown where he has since resided following the trade of saw filing and mowing machine repairing at which he was an expert. Mr. Joslyn was twice married, his first wife, May C Countryman, of Sharon Springs having died six years ago. Their married life extended over a period of fifty-two years. Three years ago he was united in marriage with Mrs. Harriett Ballard of this village, who survives, together with one brother, Elmer Joslyn; one daughter, Mrs. A. J. Davidson, and a niece, Mrs. George Umbock, all of Oneonta. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the house the Rev. Herbert M. Pease officiating and burial was made in the family plot at the Westville cemetery. The bearers were John W. Holliday, Alfred J. Peevers, Willis Belknap and J. B. Saxton.
