Rita J. Fritsch, 95 of Brazil, passed away August 6, 2019 at 4:28 am at Union Hospital. She was born November 28, 1923 in Brazil, the daughter of Lee J. Deal and Elizabeth Mathis Deal.

She graduated from Brazil High School, Class of 1942. While in high school, she was a Princess on the homecoming court her freshman year, and then as a Senior, she was the homecoming Queen. She was also voted Miss Personality while in high school and was May Queen her Senior Year. She was a life-long member of the Annunciation Catholic Church. She served on the Altar Society and the Mother’s Club at the Annunciation School.

She began her work career with the Indiana State Highway Department in Indianapolis. She later worked with American Legion National Headquarters during WWII. She landed a secretary position with the Indiana Department of Forestry and at the job she met Lee Fritsch. The story continued when on January 23, 1954, she and Lee were united in marriage.

Rita and Lee enjoyed going to the Elks Lodge and to the American Legion on Saturday nights to get dressed up and dance together. Rita enjoyed cooking, especially holiday treats and special candies made for family and friends, who affectionately called her Miss Rita. Traveling with her sister, Sister Dorothy, and son Mike brought her great joy. They made over 30 trips together and one of her favorite spots was to Frankenmuth, Michigan.

Rita is survived by her sons, Donald Fritsch of Brazil, and Father Michael Fritsch, currently serving at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Danville, IN; granddaughter Laura Thompson (Danny), Brazil and grandson, Don Lee Fritsch of Indianapolis; great-grandsons, Caleb Ellis and Zach Ellis; and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lee Fritsch; sister, Sister Dorothy Deal; sister Mary Monroe and a sister Theresa as a three-year-old; one brother in infancy, Paul Deal; one grandson, Devon Ellis.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11:00am at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Michael Fritsch Celebrant and Father Jim Koressel, Monsignor Bill Stumpf Concelebrant. Music will be provided by Steve McCullough, Cantor, Elizabeth Maurey. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
