Former Tulare resident Willard G. Bridges of Hanford passed away Friday, June 16, 2006, at the age of 84.

He was born on Aug. 30, 1921, in Keota, Okla., to Isaac and Ada Bridges. He was raised and educated in Oklahoma nad came to Tulare in his late teens. He was inducted into the United States Army on Dec. 14, 1944, serving during World War II. He was discharged on Nov. 2, 1946, and returned to Tulare. He had lived in Tulare for a long time, working for Western Milk Transport Company as a truck driver, retiring after 35 years. He met and married Myrtle Dunn and they moved to Hanford 35 years ago.

Willard was a member of Lakeside Community Church. He loved to be around his grandchildren, and he loved to dance, work in his yard and travel.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Myrtle Bridges of Hanford; two sons, Marty Bridges of Texas and Dan Bridges of Kingsburg; a daughter, Janiece Peoples of Clements; a stepson, Daryle Dunn of Hanford; eight grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Country Manor for the excellent care they provided.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at People's Funeral Chapel, 501 North Douty St., Hanford. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel, with burial at Hanford District Cemetery.
