in two-car crash
AUBURN - Two persons were killed and one injured last night in a violent two-car head-on collision on Routes 5 and 20 just west of here.
Dead were the drivers of the cars, Thomas P. Chigaridas, 29, of 912 Beverly Drive, Syracuse, and Mrs. Dorothy F. Wilson, 68, of Interlaken RD 2.
A passenger in the Chigaridas vehicle, Donald Shoudy, 29, of 4405 Kosson Rd., Syracuse was reported in fair condition in Auburn Memorial Hospital's intensive care ward, where he was being treated for face cuts and possible chest injuries.
State Trooper R. J. Gaylo said the Chigaridas car was traveling east on Routes 5 and 20 at about 7 p.m. when it apparently drifted into the westbound lane, striking an oncoming car drive by Mrs. Wilson.
Investigation into the accident is continuing, but Gaylo said there were no skid marks on the road and no witnesses. He said there was no evidence that either driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Chigaridas and Mrs. Wilson were both pronounced dead at the scene. Autopsies were to be performed this morning at Memorial Hospital to determine causes of death.
B.L. Bush and Sons Funeral Home in Camillus will be handling arrangements for Chigaridas and the Hurlbert Funeral Home in Interlaken will be handling them for Mrs. Wilson.
