He was also preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Joyce Ann Secreto Belcastro, on August 6, 2007.
In addition to his father, he is survived by two sons, Samuel Anthony Belcastro and Anthony James Belcastro, both at home; three brothers John Belcastro and his wife Connie and their three children, John Belcastro, Justin Belcastro and his wife Jaclyn, and Kayla Belcastro, all of Bridgeport; Robert S. Belcastro, his daughter Rose Faulhaber and her husband Jeff, of Charlotte, N.C.; Joseph Belcastro and his wife Sarah and their two children, Jack and Josie Belcastro, all of Richmond, V.A.; his two brothers-in-law, Mike Secreto and his wife Dawn, Lumberport; and Frank Secreto and his wife Kim, Lake Floyd, and their children, Jennifer Angiuilli and her husband John, Steven, Melanie and Megan.
In addition to his wife and mother, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Mary and Anthony Secreto, and great-niece, Jordyn Belcastro.
Jimmy was a graduate of Bridgeport High School where he was an All-State baseball player and received a scholarship to play for Michigan State University. He played baseball for three years at Salem College, and thereafter graduated from Marshall University with a B.A. degree in Behavioral Health. Previous to being a teacher he had been employed at Union Carbide for ten years. Taking it very seriously, Jim was one of the most knowledgeable cattlemen in the state which included artificial breeding, buying and selling cattle. He was currently employed by the Harrison County Board of Education as a teacher for the past 19 years, having taught at Adamston Elementary, Bridgeport Middle School and Lincoln High School. Being an avid sports fan, he loved coaching baseball and basketball at Bridgeport High School where he really enjoyed working with kids.
Jimmy was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He loved his two sons very much and anyone who knew him knew he had a big heart. Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Sunday from 1 – 8 pm, where the Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 pm Sunday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Monday, March 14, 2011 at All Saints Catholic Church with Reverend Father Harry N. Cramer as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
