Also known as Felix GENEST dit LaBARRE in some Canadian records. Note: Variances in spelling of name: Labord, Labore, LaBarre, Lebare

**Note: In some of the Canadian records his father is listed as Joseph Genest dit LaBarre. I am told that Genest was the actual surname and the dit LaBarre was used to differentiate between men in the French military who shared the same name. Only the soldier was supposed to use the dit name, but some family members used it as well and I would imagine that eventually Genest became LaBarrre because whomever was taking down information just used the last word they said as part of their name. Joseph could neither read or write, so....

Felix and his wife, Catherine Lawrence, were the parents of 13 children, all born in Ramsey County, Minnesota:

Catharine LaBarre 1850-

Napoleon Paul LaBarre 1853-1937

Isaac James LaBarre 1856-

Matilda Mary LaBarre 1858-

Alphonse LaBarre 1860-

Joseph LaBarre 1862-

Regalia LaBarre 1864-

Ligouri LaBarre 1865-

Emilie (Minnie) LaBarre 1867-

Felix M. LaBarre Jr 1870-1956

Charles Joseph LaBarre 1873-

Peter LaBarre 1880-1895

Emma LaBarre 1884-

If you have any information to share, I would certainly be interested.
