William E. Bachelor, 68, of Rapid City was taken by his Lord and Savior from his earthly home to his eternal home on Saturday, January 18, 2003.

He was born December 7, 1934 to Elmer and Elizabeth Bachelor in Valentine, Nebraska. When he was 7 years old the family moved from a ranch near Wood Lake, Nebraska to another ranch near Mission, SD. He rode his Shetland pony to a rural school near their ranch and later attended school in Mission. The family then moved to a ranch northwest of White River, SD where he graduated from high school in 1953.

On June 25, 1955 he was united in marriage to Muriel Peterson. To this union three children were born. Roxane, William Randal (Randy) and Kenneth. The family resided on the ranch at Mission. They spent four years in Denver, CO where Roxane attended a special school due to her hearing impairment. They then returned to Mission. In 1973 they moved to their ranch northwest of White River where Bill continued his ranch operation until he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1990. Since it had become difficult to engage in ranching Bill and Muriel moved to Rapid City, SD in 1991 where they have resided since. He loved to travel and spent several years camping and exploring our beautiful country.

He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Elizabeth Bachelor and an infant brother.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife of 47 years, Muriel Bachelor, daughter, Roxane Harrington and her husband Rick of Rapid City, two sons, Randy Bachelor and his wife Shelly of White River, SD and Kenneth Bachelor and his wife Robin of Princeville, IL. Eight grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson and her husband Hans, Jamie Bachelor, Justin Bachelor, Leann Harrington, Rob Harrington, Heather Bachelor, Jeremy Bachelor, Jessica Bachelor, two great grandchildren, Gunnar Johnson, Kazlyn Bachelor, a sister Patricia Showalter and her husband Max of Long Pine, NE, and a host of other friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at First Wesleyan Church, with Pastor Mike Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Rapid City.
