Son of George A. & Mariah (Ackerson) Sheley.

Harold H. Sheley was born April 22, 1888 in Burr Oak township, Iowa, and passed away Dec. 3, 1918, aged 30 years. Death was due to tuberculosis, which began nearly four years ago, following an attack of pneumonia, but after a year his health improved, and he was the first of the young men of Burr Oak to answer the nation's call to the colors. He was sent to Camp Pike and about a year ago he had measles and was never well again. He was in the hospital until June, when he was considered able to make the trip home, where death ended his suffering Dec. 3. Services were conducted from the home by the M.E. pastor and he was laid to rest in the Burr Oak cemetery. He leaves to mourn his loss his parents and four brothers, Guy, Ernest (who is with the U.S. army and about to sail for France), Lester and Elmer, an older brother, Earl, having passed away a few years ago and other relatives and many friends who deeply sympathize with the bereaved family.
