William Clayton Etheridge, son of Jesse A. and Mildred L. (Webster) Etheridge, was born February 7, 1938 in Chiefland, FL. He grew up and graduated from high school there.

Bill served his country in the Navy for over twenty years. He had a decorated service career and was very proud his time served. After he retired he lived in many locations across the country with his longest stay being in Mesa, AZ for 20 years. He also had various jobs but his favorite was operating his landscaping business in Mesa. The pie and ice cream the retired ladies provided each day after the work was complete was equal to the pay.

On March 14, 1997 he was united in marriage to Mary Maher in Las Vegas, NV. Bill also volunteered serving in the military color guard on many occasions and well as giving Wii Bowling lessons wherever the couple lived including, AZ, IA, and SD. He was an active member of the Mesa Transfiguration Episcopal Church, working with the grounds crew and participating in the Men's group. He was also a life-time member of the VFW and DAV, and a member of Fleet Reserve.

Bill's relationship with the Lord was important to him and strengthened as he aged. He a very caring husband; and will be remembered for his sense of humor when times were tough. He felt that humor soften things and that it was the best medicine.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife; his 4 children and their spouses; his 3 step-children and their spouses; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
