A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, at Andrews
Market Street Chapel with Rev. Randy Speight officiating. Interment will
follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Virginia was born October 2, 1931, in Greensboro, N.C., daughter of
the late Clarence A. Stanford and Dorothy Groome Stanford.
Mrs. Quate was a member of Lake Forest Baptist Church and was retired
from General Electric. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and
friend.
Her husband, O'Neil Quate; daughter, Tanya S. Quate; and two sisters,
Sue Warf and Barbara Atkinson, preceded her in death.
She is survived by four children, two sons, Timothy O. Quate and
Talmage A. Quate; and two daughters, Tena M. Quate and Tyra Q. Carmichael
and husband, David, all of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Alexander Quate
and Melody Quate; sister, Jane Harden of Greensboro, N.C.; stepmother, Mabel
Stanford of Danville, Va.; and many loving and dear nieces, nephews, and
friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until the service hour
Wednesday at the funeral home.

Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.
