Mrs. Bonnie Bangert Dies at 37
Bonnie Bangert, wife of Dr. Norman J. Bangert, pastor of the Lutheran Church of The Resurrection in Terra Linda, died yesterday at the age of 37 at a San Francisco hospital after a long illness.
Dr. and Mrs. Bangert, have served the church in Terra Linda since 1961. They and their four children--Mark, Elizabeth, Mary and Christine--made their home at 1012 Las Galllinas Avenue, San Rafael.
Mrs. Bangert was born in Los Angeles, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Leslie Johnson, who still live in that city.
She was a graduate of St. Johns College in Winfield, Kan., and early in life devoted herself to the work of the Lutheran Church, serving as a teacher in the church's parochial schools.
She and Dr. Bangert, were married in Los Angeles in 1951, while he was a student at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis.
On his graduation, in 1954, Dr. Bangert was assigned the pastorship of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Kaneohe, Hawaii, where they remained until he received the pastorship of the Terra Linda church.
Throughout the years, Mrs. Bangert was active in the affairs of the churches under her husband's guidance and assisted him through her participation in women's activities of the church. At the same time, Mrs. Bangert met the responsibilities of her home and of raising her family.
Mrs. Bangert, is also survived by a brother, Raymond Johnson of Thousand Oaks.
An evening prayer service will be held Monday at 7:30 o'clock at the Godeau Funeral Home, 41 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco.
Funeral will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Terra Linda. The family would prefer memorial contributions to the Church of the Resurrection.
