Virginia Beach - Alice Frances Biers, 89, died peacefully on August 3, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born in Bloomfield, New Jersey, the daughter of William and Irene VanGilder Coover. She was preceded in death by her loving husband John W. Biers. Mrs. Biers was an original member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Virginia Beach, Virginia and was a former member of the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving daughters; Alice F. Baker and her husband Floyd of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, Marie I. Potter and her husband Mike of Virginia Beach, Eileen B. Sanders and her husband Chet of South Glens Falls, New York, Christine B. Wallace and her husband Randy of Virginia Beach, Kathleen B. Doxey and her husband Cliff of Suffolk, and Lynn B. Meise of Virginia Beach. She was Nana to her seven grandchildren and 5 great-grandchilden; Paul Baker and wife Sherie and their children Katie and Sarah, Stacey Staples and husband Will and their children Noemi and Damien, Brian Rossley and wife Stephanie and son Brennan, Jason Brosch, Matthew Brosch, Kimberly Meise, Allison Wallace and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends in the Laskin Road chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Monday, August 8, 2016 at 2:00 PM. The Reverend Father Robert J Cole will officiate. Interment will immediately follow at Colonial Grove Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church Parish Hall Fund or to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad.
