John Harvey Hopper, 84, passed away in Pawnee on Sunday, June 28, 1998, and funeral services were held here this morning.

He was born in Blackburn, Okla., on June 28, 1914, to William Cameron Hopper and Anna May (Zumwalt) Hopper. He lived in the Pawnee area most of his life.

John was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy and was an ex-POW.

He was married to Claudine Cramer in 1948 at Hominy and moved to Pawnee from Blackburn in 1954. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pawnee and of the VFW and AARP.
He is survived by 3 sons: Mike Hopper of Fox, Okla.; Rick Hopper of Stillwater, Okla., and Johnny Hopper of North Bend, Washington, plus 11 grandchildren and a number of other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.(He had three sisters..Lola Hopper Tisdale, Marie Hopper Higgins, and 1/2 sister Gertie Gould Pershall plus a sister-in-law Eva Scott Hopper Stanfill Ade who was married to Joe Hopper.)

The Rev. Bob Keck officiated at the 10:30 a.m. funeral service this morning, Wednesday, July 1, 1998, at the Poteet Funeral Chapel. Burial followed at the Blackburn, Okla., cemetery.

The Poteet Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
